The minimum entry requirements for admission to our undergraduate courses are listed by country below. The requirements stated may vary depending on the grading system used by the institution. If your country is not listed, or if you have any additional queries, please contact our undergraduate admissions team.
These entry requirements are a guide only and the details may vary depending on your personal circumstances, the content of your application and the course you are applying for.
All applicants must be able to demonstrate acceptable levels of Literacy and Numeracy in English and Mathematics equivalent to the GCSE/IGCSE requirements for the course applied for.

Argentina
You will need an acceptable qualification such as A-Levels or International Baccalaureate, or you will need to complete an acceptable UK-based foundation programme.
You will also need a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with no lower than 6 in any component.
We do not accept the Titulo de Bachiller for direct entry to our undergraduate courses.
Barbados
We will expect you to complete the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) with with three two-Unit courses with grades 1,1,2 - 1,2,2, depending on the programme applied for, including Mathematics and English.
Bolivia
You will need an acceptable qualification such as A-Levels or International Baccalaureate, or you will need to complete an acceptable UK-based foundation programme.
You will also need a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with no lower than 6 in any component.
We do not accept the Bolivian Baccalaureate for direct entry to our undergraduate courses.
Brazil
You will need an acceptable qualification such as A-Levels or International Baccalaureate, or you will need to complete an acceptable UK-based foundation programme.
You will also need a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with no lower than 6 in any component.
We do not accept the Certificado de Ensino Medio for direct entry to our undergraduate courses.

We do not accept the Licencia de Educación Media for direct entry to our undergraduate courses.
Colombia
You will need an acceptable qualification such as A-Levels or International Baccalaureate, or you will need to complete an acceptable UK-based foundation programme.
You will also need a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with no lower than 6 in any component.
We do not accept the Bachillerato for direct entry to our undergraduate courses.
Dominican Republic
You will need an acceptable qualification such as A-Levels or International Baccalaureate, or you will need to complete an acceptable UK-based foundation programme.
You will also need a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with no lower than 6 in any component.
We do not accept the Perito for direct entry to our undergraduate courses.
Ecuador
We may consider applicants who are currently in the first year of university study in Ecuador for entry into the first year of our courses. We would normally ask for a GPA of 80% or 3.2 out of 4. For further information about this, please contact the undergraduate admissions office (socialsciences@manchester.ac.uk).
Otherwise you will need an acceptable qualification such as A-Levels or International Baccalaureate, or you will need to complete an acceptable UK-based foundation programme.
You will also need a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with no lower than 6 in any component.
We do not accept the Bachillerato/Bachillerato Tecnico for direct entry to our undergraduate courses.
El Salvador
You will need an acceptable qualification such as A-Levels or International Baccalaureate, or you will need to complete an acceptable UK-based foundation programme.
You will also need a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with no lower than 6 in any component.
We do not accept the Bachillerato for direct entry to our undergraduate courses.
Guatemala
You will need an acceptable qualification such as A-Levels or International Baccalaureate, or you will need to complete an acceptable UK-based foundation programme.
In addition we also require applicants to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with no lower than 6 in any component.
We do not accept the Bachillerato for direct entry to our undergraduate courses.
Jamaica
You will need to complete the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) with with three two-Unit courses with grades 1,1,2 - 1,2,2, depending on the programme you apply for, including Mathematics and English.
Mexico
In addition to the Bachillerato, you will need to complete an acceptable UK-based foundation programme or the first year of university study in Mexico.
You will also need a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with no lower than 6 in any component.
Trinidad and Tobago
You will need to complete the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) with with three two-Unit courses with grades 1,1,2 - 1,2,2, depending on the programme you apply for, including Mathematics and English.
United States of America
A Level equivalent requirement
A*AA:
USA High School Diploma with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 including grade B in English and Mathematics and 555 in 3 AP's.
AAA: USA High School Diploma with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 including grade B in English Language and Mathematics and 555 in 3 AP's. For BSc Economics we require 5 in Calculus BC AP.
AAB:
USA High School Diploma with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 including grade B in English Language and Mathematics and 554 in 3 AP's.
ABB:
USA High School Diploma with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 including grade B in English Language and Mathematics and 544 in 3 AP's.
Uruguay
You will need an acceptable qualification such as A-Levels or International Baccalaureate, or you will need to complete an acceptable UK-based foundation programme.
You will also need a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with no lower than 6 in any component.
We do not accept the Uruguayan Secondary School Certificate for direct entry to our undergraduate courses.
Venezuela
You will need an acceptable qualification such as A-Levels or International Baccalaureate, or you will need to complete an acceptable UK-based foundation programme.
You will also a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with no lower than 6 in any component.
We do not accept the Título de Bachiller and Título de Técnico Medio for direct entry to our undergraduate courses.
